About OmTones
OmTones started from a simple frustration: most "Om" and drone tracks online are fixed recordings that loop. After ten minutes your ear learns the loop, the seam becomes obvious, and the sound that was meant to disappear into the background starts demanding attention instead. We wanted a drone that could run for an hour, or all night, without ever repeating itself the same way twice.
So OmTones generates its sound live, in your browser, using the Web Audio API. Nothing is pre-recorded. You choose a root note, layer sine, triangle, and sawtooth oscillators, and the tones are synthesized in real time. Turn on Evolution Mode and the filter, modulation, and detune slowly drift within musical ranges, so the drone stays gently alive rather than frozen. It is a small nod to Brian Eno's idea of music that is "as ignorable as it is interesting."
Who it is for
OmTones is built for people who sit with sound: meditators who want a steady tone to rest attention on, yoga teachers holding one drone through a whole class, sound-bath practitioners layering it under bowls and gongs, and anyone who sleeps or works better with a continuous, non-jarring tone in the room. You can match the drone to your own humming pitch, drop it low for grounding, or raise it for a more awake, focused feel.
About 432 Hz and just intonation
We include alternative tunings like 432 Hz and just intonation, and frequency options such as the Solfeggio set, because many listeners genuinely prefer how they sound. We want to be honest about why: these are offered as matters of taste, not proven medical effects. The popular claims about 432 Hz or specific "healing frequencies" repairing DNA are not supported by solid evidence. What is real is that a calm, sustained tone can help you settle, and that personal preference for one tuning over another is completely valid. Use whichever sounds best to you.
Free, private, no sign-up
OmTones is free and runs entirely in your browser with no account and no installation. Because the audio is generated locally, your listening never leaves your device. It is part of the Audio Tools Network, a small family of focused audio tools that also includes BinauralHQ for binaural beats and Focus Hum for steady background noise. If you have feedback or a feature request, we would love to hear it at contact@omtones.com.
